These fish are typical on any given day on the lower Sacramento River. Some of these photos are from the Pit River, the upper Sacramento and Hat Creek. Different places fish better at different times.

Winter Fishing?

2/26/12...... The day started out cold and breezy but it didn't seem to bother the fish. Tim and 'Hot Hand' Rob had consistent action pretty much all day and even had some dry action late in the afternoon. Rob certainly had the hot and and at one poinythe hooked 6 while standing at the head of one riffle. The big fish of the day pictured above went to Rob also; a hard fighting 17 incher.

Tim and Rob are both good casters and they were rewarded with at least 20 fish including the small fish of the day, also Robs, a 2" beauty that could barely get little mayfly in its mouth. We had a good laugh at that one.

After a cooler morning the breeze settled down and things warmed up a bit and the afternoon produced some excellent action. Most of the fish were in the 12 to 14 inch range with a few other surprises in the 16 to 17 inch range.
